Cabin Mode allows the pilot or co-pilot of the UH-1H and Blackhawk to leave their cockpit seat and walk freely inside the helicopter’s cabin rather than exiting to the outside. Full WASD movement, weapon use, and aiming down sights (ADS) are available while inside.
Supported Helicopters

| MD500 Civilian | ✗ |

| SA342M Gazelle | ✗ |
| UH-1H Iroquois | ✓ |
| MH-60L Blackhawk | ✓ |
| AW101 Merlin | ✗ |
How to Use
Entering the Cabin
- Be seated as pilot or co-pilot
- Look back to find the “Move to Cabin” action
- Activate it — your character leaves their cockpit seat and walks freely inside the helicopter’s cabin, moving with the aircraft in flight
Inside the Cabin
- Full WASD movement — walk around inside the helicopter
- Weapon use — draw and fire weapons
- ADS — aim down sights normally
- Physical wall boundaries prevent walking through the fuselage
Returning to the Cockpit
At any time, use the “Return to Cockpit” action to return to your seat. You are placed back in your original pilot or co-pilot seat if it is free; otherwise in the alternate cockpit seat.
What Happens to the Helicopter
When the pilot enters Cabin Mode, they leave the controls. The helicopter does not automatically hold position — what happens next depends on who else is aboard:
- Co-pilot present — the co-pilot retains full flight controls and can continue flying normally
- No co-pilot — the helicopter is uncrewed and will drift freely on whatever heading and collective it had when the pilot left
If you plan to enter Cabin Mode solo, engage Auto Hover (X) first. This locks the helicopter into a stable hold before you leave the seat, keeping it stationary while you are in the cabin.
Server Configuration
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|
CZH_cabinModeEnabled | 1 = Cabin Mode enabled. 0 = disabled server-wide for all helicopters. | 1 |
Cabin Mode is a cockpit crew feature only. Cabin passengers use the standard get-out action which exits them into the interior — they do not need or have the “Move to Cabin” action.
Native Cabin Linking
Separate from Cabin Mode, the UH-1H, MH-60L Blackhawk, AW101 Merlin, and MH-6 all support native DayZ cabin linking. When a player physically walks into or stands on the interior/rear opening of these helicopters, they are automatically linked to the aircraft and travel with it — no action required. This applies even mid-flight.
| Helicopter | How it works |
|---|
| AW101 Merlin | All seats exit into the enclosed fuselage interior — players are linked natively on seat exit and when standing inside the aircraft. Rear ramp must be open to board or disembark. |
| UH-1H Iroquois | Players can walk onto the rear cabin opening and link natively, in addition to using Cabin Mode from the cockpit. |
| MH-60L Blackhawk | Same as UH-1H — rear opening supports native linking alongside Cabin Mode. |
| MH-6 Little Bird | The small rear platform area supports native linking — stepping onto it links the player to the aircraft. |
Native cabin linking is handled by the DayZ engine directly. It is not configurable through the mod’s JSON settings.
