# Pilot Panel

> One window for the map, the autopilot, GPS waypoints, your personal settings and your camera distance — opened with O, G or P from any seat in a helicopter.

From v0.4.7 the map, the autopilot, the GPS waypoint and your personal settings all live in one window, the **Pilot Panel**. It replaces the separate autopilot map and settings window of earlier versions.

## Opening it

| Key | Opens |
| - | - |
| `O` | The **Settings** tab |
| `G` | The **Map** tab, in **Waypoint** mode |
| `P` | The **Map** tab, in **Autopilot** mode |

Press the same key again, press **Esc** or click the **X** in the top corner to close it. All three keys can be changed in **Options → Controls**, where they are listed as *Pilot Panel: Settings*, *Pilot Panel: GPS Map* and *Pilot Panel: Autopilot*, and server owners can choose the keys their players start on — see [Keybinds](/server-config/global-settings#keybinds).

The panel opens from **any seat in a CZ helicopter, or while walking in its cabin**. It does not open on foot, while you are typing in chat, or while you are looking through the [chin camera](/features/chin-camera).

## Map

The map shows a satellite picture of the terrain on the maps the cockpit GPS knows (see [Cockpit GPS](/features/cockpit-avionics#cockpit-gps)); on any other map it shows the normal game map. It marks:

* **YOU** — your own helicopter, turned to its heading
* every **runway** an admin has marked on this map, with its name
* the autopilot **DESTINATION** and the GPS **WAYPOINT**, when set

It never shows other aircraft.

The map has two modes, switched with the **WAYPOINT** and **AUTOPILOT** buttons at the top.

### Waypoint mode

A waypoint is a marker for you to fly to yourself — the aircraft does nothing on its own.

* **Click** the map to set the waypoint, and **right-click** or **CLEAR** to remove it
* The pilot and the co-pilot can both set it
* It shows on the cockpit GPS screen as a marker with a line from your position
* The map needs the aircraft's power — the engine running or the [dashboard lights](/features/cockpit-avionics#dashboard-lights) on. Without it the whole map, autopilot included, shows **NO GPS POWER** (the Tracker Receiver's view works anyway)

### Autopilot mode

This is the autopilot map. **Click** where you want to go, then press **ENGAGE**; **STOP** cancels a trip that is under way. Only the pilot can set the autopilot. The side card shows the destination, the distance, what happens on arrival (**MANUAL** landing or an automatic one) and a fuel check — **WITHIN RANGE**, **TIGHT ON FUEL** or **NOT ENOUGH FUEL**. Clicking on a marked runway sets its middle as the destination. Everything about how the autopilot flies is on the [Autopilot](/features/autopilot-map) page.

### Tracker view

A [Tracker Receiver](/features/tracker) opens the same map in tracker view, showing where the helicopters you have tagged were at their last signal.

## Settings

Everything on the **SETTINGS** tab is yours alone. It is saved to your own DayZ profile straight away, follows you between servers, and only changes what you see and hear — it never changes how the helicopter flies for anyone else. **RESET ALL** puts everything back to the defaults.

| Section | Setting | What it does | Default |
| - | - | - | - |
| Controls | **Mouse flight** | The mouse steers the cyclic — the same switch as `K`. See [Mouse Flight](/features/mouse-flight) | Off |
| Controls | **Mouse sensitivity** | How far the mouse moves the cyclic, `0.05` – `2.00` | `0.50` |
| Controls | **Invert mouse** | Pull back to climb | Off |
| Controls | **Keyboard sensitivity** | Softens the key inputs, `40%` – `100%` | `100%` |
| Controls | **Collective hold** | Keeps the collective where you leave it instead of springing back to the hover point | Off |
| Display | **HUD units** | Speed and height in **KT / FT** or **KM/H / M** | KT / FT |
| Display | **HUD opacity** | How solid the flight HUD looks: 100%, 75% or 50% | 100% |
| Display | **HUD size** | How big the flight HUD is: Small, Normal or Large | Normal |
| Display | **Damage panel** | The top-left helicopter status panel, the same as its `H` key | On |
| Display | **Instrument vibration** | Cockpit needles shake when the aircraft is badly damaged | On |
| Display | **Dust effects** | Rotor dust from your own helicopter. Turn it off to help your frame rate — other players' dust always shows | On |
| Sound | **Alert volume** | Warning tones, low-fuel beeps, the stall horn the [terrain warnings](/features/cockpit-avionics#terrain-warnings-taws) and the radio static from a hidden tracker: Normal, Low or Off | Normal |
| Sound | **Radar volume** | Radar sounds — the [radar](/features/cockpit-avionics#cockpit-radar) contact ping and lost tone, the radar warning tone and the Handheld Radar's beeps: Normal, Low or Off | Normal |
| Sound | **Blade slap** | The slap of a working rotor | On |

## Camera

The **CAMERA** tab sets how far back the third-person camera sits **for the type of helicopter you are in**, from **60%** to **150%** of the distance the server uses — up to half as far again. Switch to third person to see the change. **RESET THIS HELICOPTER** puts that type back to the server's distance. Each helicopter type remembers its own choice.
